Gmail Users Read More Marketing E-mails

According to MailChimp, a fast-growing e-mail distribution service, Gmail users were most likely to open and click on marketing e-mails.

In a recent study, which eMarketer neatly compiled below, open rates varied among users of the top e-mail services, from a low of just over 20% for e-mails sent to AOL users to a high over nearly 31% among Gmail users. The click rate on e-mails sent to Gmail accounts was more than 7.4%, compared with rates between 4% and 5% for Yahoo!, AOL and Hotmail users.

Why Isn't Anyone 'Flock'ing?

FlockAs of July 2009, Mozilla’s Firefox accounted for nearly 23% of all browser usage – making it the second most popular Web browser worldwide behind Microsoft’s many versions of Internet Explorer, which claim 68% of the browser-usage pie.

Bing – You're It!

BingWell, it’s no secret to those who know me that I am not a fan of most of Microsoft’s products (though some cool things are happening with the XBOX 360 if this is its future).  But this week Microsoft launched Bing, a new search engine aimed at finally procuring a serious portion of the search-engine market.

I’ve played around with it a bit, watching its video tutorials (probably the weakest part of the launch, actually), and searching, you know, for things.  I have to admit, it’s pretty cool.  I’ll write more after more testing, and figuring out how it’s going to shake up the online marketing world.  But in the meantime, here’s something that can’t be ignored: Bing has overtaken Yahoo! and holds more of the market than MSN and Windows Live did, combined.  Pretty impressive.

Have you tried it?  What do you think?

Emarketer projected that Social Network Marketing spending in the USA will reach approximSocial Media Graphately $1.3 billion in 2009.

On the other hand, projections for 2009 show that 25% of US small businesses plan on spending more, 33% plan on continuing their current spending, and only 5% are planning on spending less. Though companies are cutting budgets and costs during these tumultuous times, projections indicate online marketing is doing better than other areas of the economy and is still a major focus for small business.
